iPad 5 arriving with Samsung's super AMOLED display?

Tim Cook, Apple’s COO and the man in charge at Apple during Steve Jobs’ medical leave, has reportedly visited South Korea to inquire on how to integrate Samsung’s super AMOLED technology to enhance future iPad displays.
Apple’s iPad 2 seeks new technology for upgrading its current liquid crystal displays supplied by Samsung rival LG. Samsung’s AMOLED display technology has been equipped and marketed on their Galaxy S smartphone series, and in the future, their line of tablets.

According to an anonymous source in speaking with The Korea Herald,

“Apple wants to tap into Samsung’s AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad 2, considered as many by the iPad 3 that is likely to be launched toward the end of this year.”

Using AMOLED technology, the iPad 3 display would provide a brighter screen and run on less power. This would allow for an iPad with even more battery life.

Apple is also working on otaining processors and flash chips from Samsung. By adding new displays from the same company, Apple iPad production could become more swift. Assuming of course Samsung can produce enough AMOLED displays to meet iPad 3 demand.

If any deal for the displays fall through, LG will be losing one of its largest clients. LG has been rumored to be adding a new display assembly line in their Gumi plant to meet the high iPad demand.

An interesting side note to the Apple-Samsung partnership is Apple’s suing Samsung for patent infringement regarding Galaxy devices.

Would you like to see an iPad with a super AMOLED display? What most impresses you about the idea of an iPad with Samsung’s display technology?
